    MICHELIN GUIDE 2016: a new STAR in now in Salerno for LORENZO CUOMO and RE MAURI’ RESTAURANT.

    A New Michelin Star in Salerno.

     

    The prestigious award was given to the chef Lorenzo Cuomo, with Re Maurì restaurant, owned by Marinelli family. This morning the official announcement was made during the conference held at the Mercedes Benz branch in Milan, with the traditional delivery of the starry jackets and the report of the Guide 2016, which shows that Campania is the second most starry region of Italy.

     

    Lorenzo Cuomo’s happiness is clear and obtrusive. “Surely this star was unexpected”, Re Maurì restaurant chef says, “because the restaurant is new, because I myself am young and this is my first experience as the head of a brigade. This is a gratification that gives emotions that only a chef can understand. Surely, it is the tangible sign that we are all working well. It is fundamental that each one of us and with the same enthusiasm should keep on giving our best, since this star is not a destination, but a departure and a responsibility, actually it is now that the climb begins. I was asked to whom I would like to dedicate this star”, the chef finally reveals, “and I replied that first of all I want to dedicate it to myself, then to Oliver Glowing, of course, who led me to Re Maurì restaurant and to Marinelli family that gave me trust and believed in me”.

     

    Re Maurì restaurant was born in 2014, just a few meters distant from the beautiful Lloyd’s Baia Hotel, along the road leading to Vietri sul Mare. It has immediately focused on a Mediterranean style that combines tradition and innovation, in the menu and in the furnishing. The selection of wines is extremely refined, with more or less 650 labels, including Italian and international ones and a special focus on the local production. There are 12 labels of water and 30 types of cigars, from Cuba to the US, with a unique Davidoff selection.

     

    It was exciting, touching, fantastic news”, Maria Marinelli, Lloyd’s Baia Hotel and Re Maurì restaurant General Manager says, “however, I should say that it is an appropriate recognition for all the time and love we put in this business. This young, dynamic, competent staff firmly believe that hospitality and food rely on quality, knowledge, respect for traditional values, research, innovation. We, perhaps, driven also by our father’s teachings (the name of the restaurant has a special link with him), have the merit of having put the passion and believing in Lorenzo Cuomo, a talented young man with extraordinary skills together with his young brigade composed of professionals. The same things should be said for all the staff, coordinated by the excellent Maitre sommelier Roberto D’Adduono“.

     

    In the coming days the date of the event organized to celebrate the Star will be formally announced. It will be an evening open to the city and to those who have contributed to the success of this little gem of the Amalfi Coast.
